The nearby community of Chatawa is home to St. Mary
of the Pines, a private boarding school for girls, run by Catholic Nuns since
the 1800’s. Its campus is now the serene setting for the retired nuns
who for many years devoted their lives to the education of many young ladies
from all over the world. Our mother and sister both attended St. Mary of the
Pines in its heyday.
Today, the ruminants of Osyka’s past quietly stand abandoned as a tribute
to her active role in the development of the “Old South”. Over the
years, some members of the family remained in Osyka, while others ventured out
to experience life throughout this country and the world. However, there is
one thing that we all have in common; we all love coming home to the quiet life
of Osyka, and hope you will too.
